BRUSSELS (ANA) - The European Commission announced on Monday that it
has accepted a plan by Athens on the allocation of rights for Greek
companies concerning carbon dioxide emissions during the so-called
"2005-2007 trade period."
The allocation plan covers 141 installations which fulfill
preconditions necessary for inclusion in the trade system.
According to the plan, companies have the right either to sell or buy
carbon dioxide emission rights in accordance with their financial
interests.
European Union Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas, who made the
announcement, expressed his satisfaction over the acceptance of the
allocation plan.
