[01] Air Force jet crashes, pilot ejects to safety
A Hellenic Air Force jet crashed Tuesday morning north of Sperheiada,
but its pilot ejected to safety, sources from the Air Force General
Staff (GEA) said.
They said the jetfighter, a single-seater A7H-Corsair, crashed 10 miles
north of Sperheiada, in the Makrokomi region, shortly before 10:00
a.m., while on a training flight.
The sources said the pilot successfully used his seat ejection, and Air
Force helicopters rushed to the area to pick up the pilot, whom the
flew to the 251 Air Force hospital for precautionary reasons.
The pilot was reported to be well in health.
The Corsair had taken off earlier from the 116th Battle Wing at Araxos
airbase.
The cause of the accident was being investigated by the Air Force
