[01] Greek-listed companies' profits up 43.6 pct in 2005, report
Greek-listed enterprises' revenues rose by 16.3 percent last year to
41.56 billion euros while net profits totalled 5.5 billion euros up
43.6 percent, compared with 2004, a report by Hellastat said on
Thursday.
The report, based on financial results published by 173 listed
companies, said that consolidated revenues totalled 58 billion euros,
up 16.6 percent from the previous year.
Revenues grew an average rate of 7.0 percent in 2005, while pre-tax,
interest and amortization earnings rose only 3.0 percent. Hellastat
said average pre-tax profits grew 13.1 percent last year boosted by
profits resulting from assets sales and subsidiaries' revenues.
The report said 116 enterprises reported an increase in revenues (an
average 13.2 pct), while 53 a decline (-19.6 pct on average). A total
of 19 enterprises were loss making (of which 13 reported losses in
2004), while the 155 profitable enterprises reported a 13.1 pct profit
growth rate.
The small and medium capitalisation category -including 100
enterprises- reported a 54 percent increase in their profits, while the
big capitalisation category reported a 44 percent increase in profits.
