[01] Court rejects bid to stop showing of Da Vinci Code
An Athens first instance court on Thursday expectedly threw out a
motion by a member of a fundamentalist Orthodox Christian organisation
requesting a temporary injunction against the screening of the film
"The Da Vinci Code", which premieres in Athens movie theatres on
Thursday.
More than 100,000 tickets have already be pre-sold in movie theatres
around the east Mediterranean and predominately Orthodox Christian
nation, by far a record.
The motion was discussed in court on Wednesday and was attended by
members of several fundamentalist Christian organisations and Old
Calendarist clergy.
Representatives of the groups, upon learning of the court's decision on
vowed to continue protests outside the movie theatres showing the
film.
