[01] Meimarakis visits Kipoi border crossing
National Defence Minister Evangelos Meimarakis on Friday visited the
Kipoi border crossing in extreme northeast Greece (Thrace province) on
the Greek-Turkish frontier, accompanied by top military brass,
including general staff chief Panayiotis Hinofotis.
Meimarakis later walked across a bridge on the frontier and shook hands
with Turkish officers and soldiers, handing out gifts for the
servicemen as well.
In brief statements, the minister said good-neighbourly relations with
Turkey are based on International Law, Europe's acquis communautaire,
dialogue and continuous contacts.
