For a third time in past years, unidentified individuals have stolen the doll symbolizing baby Jesus from the manger in a Nativity scene set up on Thessaloniki's central Aristotelous Square.

After they took the doll in the early morning hours on Thursday, the culprits telephoned the media and said that the reasons for their action were outlined in a CD they left at the Thessaloniki Aristotelion University Philosophy School.

Police found the cd and, according to information, the Baby Jesus doll thieves belong to a previously unknown organization and an investigation is underway for their arrest.

The Thessaloniki municipality has replaced the stolen doll, noting that similar incidents had taken place again in 1993 and 1996.
