President of the Republic Karolos Papoulias on Tuesday received Communist Party of Greece (KKE) General Secretary Aleka Papariga, who briefed him on her recent trip to the Palestinian territories.

Papariga said that she raised the issue of the 680-kilometre wall being constructed in the West Bank by Israel, stressing this that barrier is determining the de facto political borders in the region.

Asked about the use of CCTV cameras in the investigation of last Friday's terrorist strike against the US embassy in Athens, Papariga said there are no technical means that can solve problems of this sort.

"We will not agree, in the name of any kind of threat, to have 10 million Greeks under surveillance and to make them hostages of the information that is collected," she added.
