[01] Greek budget deficit down 82.5 pct in Jan-Feb
The Greek budget deficit shrank by 82.5 percent in the first two months
of 2007, the finance ministry said on Friday.
The budget deficit fell to 42 million euros in the January-February
period, from 240 million euros in the same period last year, with the
regular budgetâs revenues up 7.5 pct in the two-month period, exceeding
a budget target for a 5.5 pct growth rate in the year.
Spending grew by 7.7 pct, after a 25.3 pct growth rate in January,
year-on-year, reflecting lower primary spending in the two-month
period.
Spending in a Public Investments Programme totaled 489 million euros in
January-February, while proceeds totaled 810 million euros (up 563.9
percent from last year).
