[01] PM to address 11th Thessaloniki Forum on MondayPrime Minister Costas Karamanlis will on Monday evening address the formal dinner of the 11th Thessaloniki Forum, which opened in the morning in the northern Greek capital, attended by leading figures in politics and international investments from the EU and elsewhere.The two-day economic forum on Global Markets: Positioning of Thessaloniki and Northern Greece, is co-organized by the Federation of Industries of Northern Greece (FING), and the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce (AHCC). The forum proceedings will be completed on Tuesday afternoon with a speech by main opposition PASOK party leader George Papandreou. Forum chairman Nikos Efthymiadis pointed out, addressing the participants, that this year's discussions focus on specific interventions resulting in productive dialogue that will lay the foundations for the implementation of initiatives and projects. [02] Papoulias lays wreath at St. Petersburg monumentPresident Karolos Papoulias on Saturday laid a wreath at a monument erected in memory of the fallen during the 1941-1944 seige of Leningrad, present-day St. Petersburg, ending his official visit to the Russian Federation.Papoulias wrote in the visitors' book "never again war, never again barbarism. This is the call of all who fell and who suffered in this heroic city." Earlier in the day, Papoulias attended an avent at the State St. Petersburg University, where the president of the modern Greek studies faculty, Fatima Yeloeva, spoke of Greece's history, using as an example the work of Kavafi in an extremely moving speech about the "soul" and the "voyage" of Greece that brought tears to the eyes of the Greek President.
