  • [01] Papariga addresses rally in Karditsa

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) Secretary General Aleka Papariga addressed a rally in Karditsa, central Greece, on Friday, calling on citizens to be vigilant and not to succumb to the artificial dilemma of what will happen if we have no government.

"It is an artificial dilemma, because strong governments have proved to be a danger. What mainstream parties and the plutocracy fear must not make the people afraid," she said.

The KKE leader further said that "the people must fear a strong anti-popular government, a strong anti-popular main opposition party, because precisely their strength causes great damage and represents very many dangers for the people."

Lastly, Papariga said that "the people must not abandon their rights and, above all, they must not underestimate the power they have. The opponent is not as strong as he appears to be."

    [02] Alavanos: 'No post-election cooperation'

Coalition of the Left (Synaspismos) leader Alekos Alavanos toured Thebes in central Greece on Friday, where he stated that his party "will not have post-elections cooperation with any of the two major political parties," namely the New Democracy (ND) party and the PASOK party.

The general elections are slated for September 16.

He met with the mayors of Inofita and Schimatirio and discussed with them the region's ecological problems and toured a local plant.

Alavanos also met with the board of the Thebes Labor Centre and gave a press conference.

He noted there that "there is complete lack of governance in the country, there is no town planning, there is no environment office."

The Synaspismos leader added that "the non-governance must stop. We need a road where health, quality of life and the environment will be the priorities."

He also called on the government "to assume its responsibilities over the wildfires."
