Interior minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Sunday inaugurated a highway detour of Karitsa, on the coast of Larissa prefecture, which is part of a larger project to link Larissa and Magnesia prefectures with a coastal route.

The ceremony marked the completion of the road access that links the Karitsa detour with the detour of Stomio, while Pavlopoulos announced that two more detours of coastal towns at the foot of Mt. Kissavnos, those of Sotiritsa and Agiokamplos, were also nearing completion.

Turning to the environment, Pavlopoulos said that its protection was naturally a primary responsiblity of the STate, but added that each and every citizen was responsible for protecting "every square meter of land".
