[01] June unemployment slips to 7.3%Greek unemployment rate fell to 7.3 percent of the workforce in June 2008, down from 8.2 percent in June 2007, the National Statistics Service announced on Thursday.The statistics service, in a monthly report, said the number of employed people in the country totaled 4,552,832 in June, while the number of unemployed totaled 359,978 and the number of the financially non active population was 4,314.792. Employment is steadily rising since 2005, with growth rates ranging between 0.5 pct to 2.3 pct during this annual period, while the number of unemployed people also steadily rising on a annual basis. The unemployment rate in the country fell from 9.9 pc tin June 2004, to 9.5 pct in June 2005, 8.3 pct in June 2006 and 8.2 pct in June 2007. The Epirus region reported the highest unemployment rate in the country (10.2 pct), while northern Aegean (3.8 pct) the lowest unemployment rate in June. The unemployment rate among women was 10.7 pct, among men 5.0pct, while the 15-24 years age group recorded the highest unemployment rate (22.3 pct).
