Athens Stock Exchange opening: Decline
Equity prices were declining at the opening of trade on Wednesay on
the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), influenced by the major
international money markets, with the basic share price index down
1.53 percent, standing at 2,106.33 points at 10:45 a.m., and
turnover at 22.2 million euros.
Individual sector indices were moving downward nearly across the
board, with the only gains in Chemicals, up 0.38 percent.
The biggest losses were in Industrial Products, down 2.84 percent;
Construction, down 2.84 percent; and Financial Services, down 2.37
percent.
The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was
down 1.26 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 1.41 percent,
and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 0.75 percent.
Of the stocks moved, 11 were up, 77 were down, and 26 were
unchanged.
