  • [01] Vote on social security bill

Parliament is due to vote on the employment and social solidarity ministry's draft law on reform of the social security sector at noon on Friday, after completing debate on the bill and passing it in a by-Article vote in the first hours of Friday.

The third and final thematic section of Articles was passed with 151 votes (ruling New Democracy MPs), while the 13 SYRIZA (Coalition of the Radical Left parliamentary alliance) deputies present voted against. Main opposition PASOK, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and the Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) MPs had earlier walked out of the debate.

The parliament plenary will vote on the bill in its total at noon on Friday, following completion of an off-the-agenda debate on youths called at the initiative of the KKE.
