RAMALLAH (ANA-MPA / P. Haritos) -- Communist Party of Greece (KKE)
Secretary General Aleka Papariga, heading a party delegation on a
visit to Ramallah on Monday, said that Israel and the allies
supporting it do not want an independent Palestinian state, adding
that there should be no faith in the pretexts cited by the Israeli
government regarding self-defence.
"The violations of the Oslo Treaty, the creation of settlements, the
wall with the electrified cables and the sealing-off of Gaza are a
few of the tragic, however, events and incidents that show one
thing: That Israel and the allies supporting it do not want an
independent Palestinian state, a classic state, like all the rest.
They literally want a half-state or small Palestinian states, that
it can manipulate, that will be controlled absolutely, in the Middle
East," she said.
The KKE delegation met with the Palestinian People's Party in the
framework of a briefing on the situation in Gaza, following an
Israeli military operation and the new events taking place regarding
the Palestinian issue.
They then met with delegations of the five leftist Palestinian
parties.
The KKE delegation will visit the Greek Women's Union of Palestine
on Tuesday and will meet with Palestinian Authority Prime Minister
Salam Fayad.
