[01] Gov't on FYROM 'name issue'
The government spokesman in Athens on Thursday was again asked about
the still unresolved FYROM "name issue", as he merely reiterated that
both the Greek government and EU positions on the matter are well
known.
"What's left is for the other side, the government of the Former
Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), to enter into negotiations in a
productive manner under the UN auspices for the finding of a mutually
acceptable name," he said.
Spokesman Evangelos Antonaros also reminded of the Greek prime
minister's statements in Parliament last week, namely, that FYROM's
Euro-Atlantic prospects will move forward when this condition -- a
resolution of the 'name issue' -- is met, while pointing to unanimous
decisions by the EU and NATO on the subject.
