  • [01] Two aircrafts made emergency landings at Athens International airport

Two aircrafts whose flights did not have a Greek destination made emergency landings at Eleftherios Venizelos International airport in Athens on Monday, within a period of three hours, when the one was faced with a technical problem and the other with a passenger's health problem.

In the first case, a Boeing 747 aircraft of the jet.com company with 192 passengers on board, carrying out a flight from Manchester to Egypt, developed a technical problem, probably a decompression problem in the passengers cabin, and landed at Athens airport at 15:40, where all necessary precautions had been taken beforehand.

In the second case, an aircraft of the Alitalia company on a flight from Rome to Cairo, landed at Athens airport at 19:12 when one of the passengers suffered a heart attack and the pilot decided that he had to receive medical attention immediately.
