[01] Suspected swine flu case negativeA suspected case of swine flu (flu virus A/H1N1) on the island of Crete has proved to be simple flu after laboratory tests came out negative.The 30 year old man was rushed to the University General hospital of Heraklion on Tuesday, where a first round of tests were negative. For precautionary purposes, a second round of tests was conducted by the Pasteur Institute in Athens and also came out negative, corroborating the first findings. [02] New FM spokesmanOutgoing foreign ministry press spokesman and director of information and public diplomacy George Koumoutsakos on Wednesday handed over his portfolio to Grigoris Delavekouras, in a ceremony attended by foreign minister Dora Bakoyannis.Bakoyannis spoke with warm words about Koumoutsakos, the "longest-serving foreign ministry press officer", who resigned the post after being placed by the prime minister on the ruling New Democracy (ND) party's ticket for the European Parliament elections. She said that Koumoutsakos had served in the post for five years "with success", and expressed her conviction that "he will serve the national interests with the same passion in the European Parliament, too". Bakoyannis anticipated that, due to his experience, Koumoutsakos would not have any difficulties with his new duties. Koumoutsakos, in turn, thanked Bakoyannis for her confidence and their "cloudless collaboration", while also addressing a "special, heartfelt thank you" to his former associates at the ministry, and also to the diplomatic reporters. He also noted that his predecessor, PASOK MP Panos Beglitis, and "set a high standard", adding that he looked forward to his new duties, but was also nostalgic of the duties he was leaving behind. Presenting Delavekouras, the foreign minister described him as a "young diplomat dedicated to the effort being made by the ministry", who has successfully served in difficult posts. Addressing herself to the press, she said "he is your man", adding that "every word of his is also my word". [03] New Acropolis Museum opensThe galleries of the new Acropolis Museum will be officially unveiled on June 20 in a ceremony that will be in keeping with the importance of the antiquities within their walls, one that will be attended by heads of state and government, noted international figures and broadcast on television throughout the world, Culture Minister Antonis Samaras said on Wednesday.The inauguration ceremony will be accompanied by a week of events in the city of Athens, which will be suitably decorated and spruced up to welcome the big day. Samaras stressed that the unveiling of the exhibits will use "unexpected" methods, with the new technologies used to showcase the antiquities acting as the "artistic event" of the evening. Security during the five days of events is being covered by Greece's interior ministry, while a cruise of the Saronic Gulf has been organised for the day after the inauguration ceremony for the heads of state and government attending. The ministry has set admission to the museum at one euro throughout 2009, in honour of the Greek taxpayers that funded its construction, while from 2010 the admission price will rise to 5 euros.
