The Friday edition of Athens' dailies at a glance

The new flu A(H1N1) virus, which has reached the proportions of a 'stage 6 pandemic' in Greece after the confirmed cases exceeded 200, the government decision for the sale of a further 5 percent share package in the Hellenic Telecoms Organisation (OTE) to German's Deutsche Telekom, and continuing revelations on the gang that abducted shipowner Pericles Panagopoulos in January, including discussions among the gang members from police surveillance tapes, were the main front-page items in Friday's dailies.

ADESMEFTOS TYPOS: "Another 5 percent of OTE to the Germans, government decides, with price per share of 27.50 euros, while the stock is being traded on the stockmarket at 10.66 euros per share".

APOGEVMATINI: "Vaccines for four million Greeks - The new flu is expected to spread rapidly in the autumn".

AVRIANI: "All the burning dialogues among the members of the crime syndicate".

ELEFTHEROS: "One in three will contract the new flu - Risk of 5.5 million Greeks being infected if the virus strain mutates".

ELEFTHEROTYPIA: The organised crime nightmare from within 1,210 pages of bloodcurdling phone transcripts".

ESTIA: "Positive news for the economy - It is holding up (to the crisis), compared with the other European economies.

ETHNOS: "Gang had weapons arsenal on Crete, and shooting range in Haidari (Athens district) for firing practice".

KATHIMERINI: "The gang had a broad network of connections, also inside the state mechanism".

LOGOS: "New flu reached pandemic proportions in Greece, too - Health minister recommends calm and cool-headedness".

RIZOSPASTIS: "ND and PASOK 'dealers' of the capital - SEB (Federation of Greek Industries) organises Euro-Med Business Forum".

TA NEA: "Triple penalties on building spaces whose declared use (appearing in the building permit) had been illegally changed".

TO VIMA: "German-style surveillance system - The secret services in the hunt-down of organised crime - 'EYP Brother' in action", referring to a 7 million euros ultra-modern surveillance system installed by the EYP (National Information Service), which was instrumental in the disbanding of the so-called 'gang of 16' (kidnapping and hired killers ring that was behind the Panagopoulos abduction in January) as well as the almost simultaneous uncover of an immense people trafficking ring exploiting women that was active in the wider region, and 25 members of which were arrested in Athens.

VRADYNI: "Vlastos (the kidnapping and hired killers gang's alleged leader, who gave orders from Trikala prison where he is incarcerated) has 'snitch' in EYP, too".
