Popular Orthodox Rally (LAOS) party leader George Karatzaferis stated that "I hope that the Virgin Mary will forgive those who commit sin against Greece."

He was speaking after the religious service held on the occasion of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary in the town of Arkitsa, in eastern Greece.

Asked by reporters about the possibility of early elections, Karatzaferis said that Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis "is leading the country to elections with his stance," while saying about the Siemens issue that "Parliament must summon the lawyer of Mr. Christoforakos to explain all that he is claiming."
