    The Saturday edition of Athens' dailies at a glance

    The economy, prime minister George Papandreou's statements after the EU summit in Brussels, unemployment and social security were the main front-page items in Athens' dailies on Saturday.

    ADESMEFTOS TYPOS: "Unemployment and social security on brink of exploding - Two 'bombs' in Loverdos' (labor minister) hands".

    APOGEVMATINI: "Unemployed will buy (staple goods) with (discount) coupons - Loverdos preannounces measures reminiscent of war and post-war period".

    AVGHI: "Papandreou gets 'vote of confidence' (at EU summit) for tough measures, gradually".

    AVRIANI: "The extraordinary measures and reduction of civil servants' salaries temporarily put off after 'breather' given by the European leaders to (Greek prime minister) Papandreou".
