Coalition of the Left, Movements and Ecology (Synaspismos) party president Alexis Tsipras referred in Istanbul on Friday night to the ongoing economic crisis.

He was speaking during the 6th Social European Forum and in the framework of a seminar on the theme of "Which political response to the crisis" and stressing that the victims of growth are being called on today to become the victims of the crisis."

Tsipras added that "the strategy that was being followed in the name of growth, meaning the decrease of incomes, the deregulation of labour relations and the dissolution of the social security system is returning today, even more aggressively, as a strategy for the crisis to be handled."

Activists and representatives of parties from all over Europe gathered in Istanbul to discuss society's response to the economic crisis.

Tsipras underlined that "the political response to the crisis can be none other than the unity of the struggles of working people all over Europe."

The sessions of the 6th Social European Forum will come to an end on Sunday.
