    Two people were killed and approximately 10 were injured in a head-on collision between a tourist bus and a truck along the Veria-Thessaloniki old national highway.

    According to police reports, the accident occurred at 45th kilometer of the highway shortly after the Alexandria (Imathia prefecture) juncture.

    Two adults in the Thessaloniki-bound bus, one of them believed to be the driver, were killed, while one of the injured people, believed to be the truck driver, was in serious condiition.

    No further details were immediately available.

    [02] Rise at ASE opening

    Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Thursday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.93 percent, standing at 1,585.24 points at 11:30 am, and turnover at 11.489 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving mostly upward, with the biggest gains in Commerce, up 2.90 percent; and Travel & Recreation, up 1.72 percent.

    The biggest losses were in Insurance, down 3.05 percent; and Mass Media, down 1.42 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.52 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.54 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 0.06 percent.

    Of the stocks traded, 50 were up, 20 were down, and 20 were unchanged.
