[01] Condemnation over players' melee at int'l basketball game
(ANA-MPA) -- The relevant deputy culture and tourism minister on Friday
expressed his stern condemnation over a bench-clearing scuffle on
Thursday evening during a basketball match between the Greek and
Serbian national men's teams in Athens. The two teams were playing the
last game of the "Acropolis" tournament, a tune-up of the upcoming
World Basketball Championship in Turkey, when several players joined an
on-court melee.
Deputy Minister Giorgos Nikitiadis made the statement, while the latest

also punish individual players, despite the fact that the match was
played as a friendly.
The entire incident was shown live on Greek state television before
showing up on numerous websites and blogs around the world.
