[01] Ancient sports games for women recreated on SamosAthletes and volunteers dressed as torch-bearers of antiquity participate in one of several events recreating an ancient festival in honour of the mythical goddess Hera (Heraion), which was held at the port of Pythagorion , on the eastern Aegean island of Samos on Friday 20 August 2010.The ancient Heraia festival served as a sports event for women, and dates back to 200 BC. The games were organised every four years. Female athletes would take part in a night race, following an ancient path, beginning from Hera's temple and finishing at the port, where the lightning of the flame took place. [02] ASE opening: Small riseEquity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.42 percent, standing at 1,596.43 points at 11:00 am, and turnover at 6.200 million euros.The biggest gains were in Chemicals, up 0.23 percent; and Food and Beverages, up 0.18 percent. The biggest losses were in Raw Materials, down 2.00 percent; and Personal and Household Goods down 0.18 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.63 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.20 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 0.13 percent. Of the stocks traded, 20 were up, 38 were down, and 13 were unchanged.
