[01] OTE to cut executive bonusesÁÍÁ-ÌPA/Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) has launched a drastic cost-cutting programme aiming at the the abolition of extra compensation to high-ranking executives working in the parent company and its affiliates.In an internal document, Mihalis Tsamaz, chairman and chief executive of the Group, said that starting from Jan. 1, 2011 the board will not pay out a bonus on achieving goals for 2011 and will end the use of a professional credit card by high-ranking executives, such as directors and general managers, citing the general financial condition in the country and the need to rationalise spending in OTE. Deutsche Telekomâs officials said recently that OTE should cut its payroll costs, while Greek Finance Minister George Papakonstantinou, in a letter sent to the managements of public sector enterprises, called for strict adherence to a government plan to cut costs in the wider public sector. More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [02] Greek retail sales downANA-MPA/Greece's retail sales volume index fell 8.1 pct in October this year, compared with the same month last year, after a decline of 15.5 pct recorded in October 2009, the Hellenic Statistical Authority announced on Thursday.The statistical service, in a report, said the October decline reflected a 14.6-pct drop in sales of furniture-electric appliances-home equipment, an 11.3-pct fall in clothing-footwear, a 10.7-pct fall in pharmaceutical-cosmetics and a 9.1-pct decline in large food stores. The retail sales turnover index fell 2.0 pct in October from the same month last year, after a decline of 14.2 pct recorded in October 2009. More details on the subscriber's page of APE-MPE | Subscription request form [03] ASE opening: RiseEquity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Friday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.37 percent, standing at 1,429.25 points at 11:15 am, and turnover at 2.202 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving upwards, with the biggest gains in Insurance, up 5.79 percent; and Personal and Household Goods, up 1.43 percent. The biggest losses were in Media, down 3.72 percent and Oil and Gas, down 0.29 percent The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.47 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.30 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.76 percent. Of the stocks traded, 31 were up, 11 were down, and 17 were unchanged.
