[01] Strong earthquake shakes southern CreteA strong earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale shook eastern and southern Crete on Monday morning at 9:49 a.m. The quake was felt throughout the region, especially around Ierapetra but also in the city of Iraklio.According to the Geodynamic Institute of the National Observatory in Athens and the Geophysics Laboratory at the Thessaloniki University, the epicentre of the quake was 368 kilometres south southeast of Athens and 25 kilometres southwest of Lasithi in the Ierapetra region. It follows an earlier earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale that occurred in roughly the same region on February 23. There were no reports of damages. More details on the subscriber's page of ANA-MPA | Subscription request form [02] ASE: Stocks dropping sharplyEquity prices were falling sharply at the opening of trade on Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 1.46 percent, standing at 1,560.12 points at 11:15 pm, and turnover at 20.23 million euros.Individual sector indices were moving down across the board, except for the Foods and Beverages index, which was up 1.00 percent. The biggest losses were in Mass Media, down 7.39 percent, and Banks, down 3.31 percent. The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 1.89 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 1.90 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was down 1.31 percent. Of the stocks traded, 13 were up, 60 were down, and 12 were unchanged.
