    ÁÍÁ-ÌPA/The basic parameters of the new aid package to Greece and the systemic crisis in the eurozone following Portugal's downgrading by Moody's will be at the focus of a Eurogroup meeting chaired by European Council president Herman van Rompuy at noon on Monday in Brussels, where Greek finance minister Evangelos Venizelos arrived Sunday night.

    The scheduled Eurogroup meeting is expected to begin with the signature of the Treaty establishing the European Stability Mechanism.ana-mpa

    Rompuy has also called a meeting of the EU's chief economic officials on Monday morning, ahead of the eurogroup session, in order to "coordinate their positions", according to a spokesman for Rompuy.

    The meeting will also be attended by Eurogroup president Jean-Claude Juncker, European Central Bank (ECB) chief Jean-Claude Trichet, European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso, and European Commissioner for economic and monetary affairs Olli Rehn.ana-mpa

    Rompuy's spokesman said Monday's session is not an urgent meeting, but one aiming at the coordination of positions, as has been the case in the past.ana-mpa

    Regarding Greece, the talks will seek to find a solution on the voluntary participation of the private sector in the second loan package to Greece.

    [02] Íine killed in car crash

    ANA-MPA/Nine people, including three children, were killed and four more were injured early Monday when a car with 13 people on board veered off course and crashed into a protective railing on the Via Egnatia highway near Komotini, according to initial information.

    The accident occurred at 8:00 a.m. under circumstances that have not yet been clarified.

    The local traffic police division is due to make announcements on the accident later in the day.
