    ANA-MPA/Government Vice President and Finance Minister Evangelos Venizelos clarified on Tuesday statements regarding Finland's participation in a second support package for Greece, noting that "Greece and Finland agreed, within the framework of a decision of the Eurozone Summit of July 21, to a financing scheme that allows the government and the parliament of Finland to decide over the participation of their country in the new aid package to Greece, through the EFSF."

    He added that "the financing scheme that has been agreed to between the two countries will be submitted for ratification to the Eurogroup's representatives of ministers."

    [02] Twin 'Kouri of Tenea' returned to Corinth

    ÁÍÁ-ÌPA/Two ancient "Kouros" statues, the eponymous Archaic-period marbles figures depicting young teen and young adult males, were returned to the archaeological museum of Ancient Corinth, during a special ceremony on Tuesday evening.

    The two statues, named the "Kouri (plural) of Tenea", are on display in a specially designed exhibition hall at the museum.

    The statues were unearthed during an illegal excavation in Klenies district of southern Corinth prefecture. ana-mpa

    Police arrested antiquities smugglers in May 2010 and the statues were sent to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens for restoration.

    According to police, smugglers had demanded 10 million euros for the statues.

    Culture Minister Pavlos Geroulanos represented the government.

    [03] Percentage of bounced checks up

    ANA-MPA/Bounced checks in July 2011 reached 392.9 million euros in the local Greek market, an increase of 133.6 percent from the previous month. In relation to July 2010, bounced checks, in terms of value in euros, were up 132.26 percent.

    According to the market and credit watchdog Teiresias S.A., 53 percent of the entire total of bounced or uncovered checks in July 2011 corresponds to 1 percent of the total number of checks in circulation.ana-mpa

    Between January and July 2011, bounced checks reached 111,290, in number, with a value of 1.3 billion euros.
