Samaras government".amna [02] Kalamata Int'l Dance Festival opens July 12 with Philippe Decoufle Co.AMNA/ The annual Kalamata International Dance Festival is the crown event of the year for the city's International Dance Centre, which was founded in the spring of 1995 for the purpose of supporting and promoting the art of dance via research, education, and artistic activities and creativity.Currently in its 18th year as an active presence in the Greek dance scene, thanks to the support of the local authorities, the Kalamata Festival has earned itself a special place on the festival map of the Mediterranean South, and built bridges to international dance creativity. Kalamata is set to host its 18th annual programme of events from the 12th to the 19th of July, premiering with a performance by the Philippe Decoufle Company DCA's new production titled "Panorama". Decoufle, a French choreographer, dancer, mime artist and theater director, is one of France's most talented choreographers and well-known around the world, known to the wider public for his incomparable choreography of the opening and closing ceremony of the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France.
