Foreign Minister in Lisbon on MondayAMNA--Deputy Foreign Minister Dimitris Kourkoulas will be on Monday in Lisbon to participate in a congress "for the future of the Meditereannean Europe between the crisis in the eurozone and the Arabic Spring" organised by the German Marshall Fund of USA.Kourkoulas will be among the main speakers on Tuesday in the first part of the congress entitled "the economic crisis of Europe and the Mediterreanean Europe: the economic, social and political challenges".amna On the sidelines of the congress, Kourkoulas will meet with his Portuguese counterpart Miguel Morais Leitao. The German Marshall Fund is a non-governmental US institute on the strengthening of the cooperation and understanding between USA and Europe. The Institute was founded in 1972 on the 25th anniversary of the Marsall Plan and has a strong presence in both sides of the Atlantic. [02] Farmers awaiting outcome of meetings with ministers in AthensAMNA--Monday is expected to be crucial for the future of the farmers' mobilisation, however it is estimated that after 30 days at roadblocks the issue is leading to defuse.The struggle's committee headed by the president of Karditsa farmers federation Vangelis Boutas will meet on Monday at 2 p.m. with the Ministers of Finance, Agriculture, Labour and Environment. According to the latest development the establishment of 'farming fuel' is a progress that has satisfied the majority of farmers and as they stated to AMNA they have decided a gradual withdrawal from the roadblocks beginning Monday and peaking on Wednesday when the landscape will be clear regarding the rest of the farmers' intentions. [03] FM Avramopoulos in three-day visit to CanadaAMNA--Foreign Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos is paying a three-day official visit to Canada in the framework of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Greece and Canada.On Monday, Avramopoulos will be in Toronto and on Tuesday in Montreal where he will meet with the representatives of the Greek community as well as with business and investment entities in the context of the Foreign Ministry's initiative to attract foreign investments to Greece.amna On Wednesday, Avramopoulos will meet with his Canadian counterpart John Baird. The meeting is expected to focus on the latest developments in Europe and the efforts to deal with the economic crisis, the EU-Canada relations and the developments in Southeastern Europe and the region of the Eastern Mediterranean.amna Moreover, the Greek FM will hold talks with the Speaker of the Canadian Senate Noel Kinsella, who will host a reception at the Canadian parliament in honour of Avramopoulos. Later on Wednesday, Avramopoulos will have dinner with distinguished members of the Greek community in Ottawa.amna Finally, Avramopoulos will also meet with Metropolitan Sotirios of Canada in Toronto. [05] BoG annual report sees recovery as of 2014AMNA---Central Bank of Greece (BoG) governor George Provopoulos will present the central bank's annual report on the Greek economy at noon on Monday.According to sources, the report ascertains that noteworthy progress has been achieved in the adjustment of the Greek economy, but warns that there is no room for complacency due to the large recession and skyrocketing unemployment.amna The BoG further predicts that Greece's GDP will shrink further in 2013 by 4.5 percent, and anticipates that economic recovery will begin in 2014. The central bank also recommends a reform of the taxation system in order to expand the tax base and restore a just distribution of the tax burdens, the sources added. [06] Endeavor Global to hold event in Athens on March 11-13AMNA--The holding in Greece of an event of Endeavor Global, a non-profit organisation aimed at supporting entrepreneurship at international and local level, constitutes a considerable opportunity for the promotion of Greece's entrepreneurship at international level with positive effects on the change in climate, the improvement of Greece's image abroad and the attraction of investments.More than 50 businessmen from the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, South Africa, Asia and Greece will participate in Endeavor's 47th international selection panel that will be held in Athens on March 11-13, 2013.
