[01] SYRIZA aims for 'an integration in capitalism', communist party
leader says
ANA-MPA -- Greece's communist party KKE is trying to build solid
foundations among the working class and prepare ahead of the
Europarliament elections, the party's secretary general Dimitris
Koutsoumbas said on Sunday, addressing the 2nd Congress of the Italian
Communist Party in Rome.
"We are working to build a KKE with solid foundation among the working
class, a KKE able to cope with any sudden switch in the struggle of the
classes and any change in developments," Koutsoumbas said.
"That does not mean we are distracted from reality, from the fight and
the demands regarding workers' problems."
"Today, we are actively getting ready across Greece to fight the
Europarliament elections battle in May, which in our country coincide
with the regional and municipal elections, so that the strengthening
of KKE is made obvious country-wide, while at the same time we seek the
reconstruction of the labour movement's foundation to a class," he said.
Koutsoumbas termed SYRIZA a "power that aims for an integration in
capitalism rather than its overthrow," adding that it "seeks to become the
new social democratic institution of the bipolar urban system in Greece."
