[01] Rural Development and Food Minister unveils changes in milk
regulation
ANA/MPA---The troika has accepted changes in milk regulation, Rural
Development and Food Minister Athanassios Tsaftaris said on Thursday.
According to the minister, the term "fresh" will be removed from the
packaging of milk, which will be offered in two categories depending on
the treatment it has undergone. The pasteurized milk (now called fresh)
and high and ultra high temperature treatment milk. In the pasteurized
type, there will be a subcategory of "milk of one day".
A scientific committee will meet on Thursday to consider the possibility
of expanding the shelf-life of pasteurized milk to more than five days.
They will also elaborate on the terms for the "milk of the day".
