[01] Two migrants dead, rescue operation underway north of Samos
The bodies of two women, both undocumented migrants, were collected by
Coast Guard vessels on Monday at the sea region of Aghios Constantinos,
north of Samos island. Thirty two undocumented migrants who were on
board two vessels that capsized were rescued. The total number and the
nationality of the undocumented migrants is still unknown.
A rescue operation is underway. Two Coast Guard vessels, a cruiseship, a
frontex vessel and three fishing boat participate in the rescue operation
with the assistance of a Super Puma helicopter. A Greek navy ship is
also on its way to offer assistance.
According to initial information, the undocumented migrants were on board
a modern yacht with four skippers while a smaller yacht was following. The
weather conditions in the area are good and the wind velocity does not
exceed 5 on the Beaufort scale.
The 36 migrants are all well and have been transferred to Samos port
authority building.
[02] Social dividend to be allocated to 265,000 beneficiaries this week
ANA/MPA---The social dividend will be given to 265,000 beneficiaries
who filed an application to the General Secretariat of Public Revenues
until April 30 while on Friday it will be given to the 75,000 uniformed
personnel.
The applications for the social dividend have exceeded 800,000 so far,
while 265,000 have been approved.
The Finance ministry is currently considering including those with
incomes just over 6,000 euros up to 6,500 euros in the social dividend
beneficiaries.
