    ANA/MPA---Greek unemployment rate eased to 26.5 pct of the workforce in February, from 27.6 pct in January, Eurostat said on Tuesday.

    The EU executive's statistics agency said that the unemployment rate eased slightly in the Eurozone to 11.7 pct in April from 11.8 pct in March and 12 pct in April 2013, and fell to 10.4 pct in the EU-28 in April from 10.5 pct in March and 10.9 pct in April last year.

    Eurostat said the number of unemployed people totalled 25.47 million in the EU and 18.75 million in the Eurozone in April, down by 151,000 and 76,000 compared with March, respectively.

    Greece recorded the highest unemployment rate (26.5 pct in February), followed by Spain (25.1 pct), while Austria (4.9 pct), Germany (5.2 pct) and Luxembourg (6.1 pct) recorded the lowest unemployment rates.

    The number of unemployed people in Greece totalled 1.3 million in February, with the unemployment rate among men at 23.8 pct and among women at 30 pct.

    The unemployment rate among young people (aged below 25 years old) rose slightly to 56.9 pct in February from 56.7 pct in January in Greece, with the country maintaining the highest rate in the EU, followed by Spain (53.5 pct) and Croatia (49 pct). Germany (7.9 pct), Austria (9.5 pct) and Holland (11 pct) recorded the lowest unemployment rates among young people.

    Cyprus (16.4 pct from 15.6 pct) and Holland (7.2 pct from 6.5 pct) recorded the biggest percentage increase in unemployment rates in 12 months.
