[01] Father who killed son and set body on fire was assisted by familyANA/MPA---A 75-year-old man who confessed on Sunday to shooting dead his 39-year-old son and setting fire to the corpse in a car in Astros Kynourias, southeastern Greece, was assisted by the young man's mother and other relatives, police said.According to the preliminary investigation, the crime involved the victim's mother (67), his uncle on his father's side (71), his aunt (70) and his brother-in-law (53). The father described in detail the crime, which he attributed to family differences. On August 15, following an argument at the family home in Astros, the father shoth is son three times and killed him. He was then assisted by his brother (the uncle) in placing the corpse in the back seat of his car, removing the licence plates, and dropping the car in a dry river bed in a deserted area before setting the car on fire. All of them were included in the criminal file. Police found the gun, a spent cartridge and clothes with bloodstains. The licence plates had been buried in the garden. All of them were led before the Nafplio prosecutor, the father on charges of murder, arson, perjury and violation of gun laws. [02] Greece wins silver at European 5 km open-water event in BerlinANA-MPA - Three Greek swimmers won silver in the 5 km open-water team event of the 32nd LEN European Swimming Championships in Berlin on Saturday, joining gold winners Netherlands and bronze winners Germany on the awards podium.The Greek team consisted of Spyros Gianniotis, Antonis Fokaidis and Kelly Araouzou, and they collected Greece's first medal in this year's European championship.
