[01] Parliament passes amendment on settlement of arrears to state
ANA-MPA - An amendment on the settlement of arrears to the state
passed in Parliament on Friday afternoon by the votes of the two
ruling coalition parties New Democracy and PASOK, as well as by those
of opposition Democratic Left (DIMAR) and Independent Greeks (ANEL),
the latter of whom expressed certain reservations.
Main opposition Radical Left Coalition SYRIZA and independent deputies
declared their presence while Golden Dawn (Chryssi Avgi) and the Communist
Party of Greece (KKE) turned it down.
The amendment also includes regulations on VAT for restaurants. It was
appended to an Administrative Reform ministry bill, which passed, on
adapting Greek legislation to European Parliament and Council Directive
2013/37/EU promoting transparency in the public sector.
[02] Discussion of Greek debt to begin after Dec. 8 eurogroup, FinMin
says in interview
ANA-MPA - The real discussion on the further management of the Greek
debt will begin after the eurogroup meeting on December 8, Finance
Minister Gikas Hardouvelis told Imerissia economic daily in an interview
published Saturday.
According to the interview, Hardouvelis said that other issues that
will be discussed at the time include a precautionary credit line and
the country's exit from the memorandum.
He also noted, according to the paper, that the road to reduced tax rates
would open as of the new year, and that a reduction of officially set
("objective") prices on real estate would be speeded up, affecting the
unified property tax first introduced this year (ENFIA) positively.
The only threat looming was that of political instability, he said,
and expressed his optimism over future upgrades of the Greek economy by
credit agencies.
