  • [01] Debt settlement measure 'excludes those in need' Skourletis says

ANA-MPA -- The issue of the 100 installments is pompous rhetoric, which in practice excludes those in need, main opposition SYRIZA spokesman Panos Skourletis told Real FM on Monday, while expressing doubts on whether it will work.

He added that "the government has allowed the troika to exhibit behaviour like the recent e-mail asking for the withdrawal of the 100-installment debt settlement."

"It can easily be inferred," he said, "that the government's communications 'bubble' regarding an exit from the memorandum has burst. This is first and foremost after the recent Eurogroup meeting. It is a refutation of Prime Minister Antonis Samaras' claims that we are exiting the memorandum."

Skourletis underlined "that words lose their meaning when you see reality moving in a totally different direction from the words and the promises of the government representatives."

"We do not promise tremendous things, we promise what is absolutely necessary and realistic," he said.

Referring to government spokeswoman Sofia Voultepsi's statement to the same radio station that a debt haircut is not feasible because there would be a strong reactions by other EU parliaments, he said: "Ms Voultepsi should be aware this has happened in the past, not only in the case in 1953 of post-war Germany. We must also point out something else; the fact that the main part of the debt is not in private hands, but it is institutional debt, facilitates the search for a political response to the issue."

[02] Minister presents electronic EOPYY Health Insurance File

ANA-MPA -- Health Minister Makis Voridis on Monday presented an electronic Health Insurance File for each individual patient covered by the National Organisation for the Provision of Healthcare Services (EOPYY), which he said would allow careful control and cross-checking of all health spending by the state healthcare system.

The file will include all information on medication, examinations and other health services received by EOPYY patients, allowing EOPYY to have immediate access to the electronic health profile of each individual in the system.

"With all the data in electronic form, there will be better management of the organisation's funds," Voridis said, allowing for a clamp-down on delinquent behaviour of every kind in the health system.

From the start of 2015, he added, an application for the issue of an electronic card to each patient, through which patients will be able to use EOPYY medical services, will be set up and gradually put into implementation.
