[01] People say 'no' to early elections - opinion pollThe majority of the people in a Kapa Research opinion poll published in the Sunday edition of Vima newspaper say 'no' to early elections and want the present parliament to elect the new president of the republic.According to the opinion poll, main opposition Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) is given a 3.6 pct lead over New Democracy (ND). SYRIZA leads with 25.8 pct followed by ND 22.2 pct, PASOK 6.8 pct, Potami 6.6 pct, Golden Dawn (GD) 6.1 pct, Communist Party (KKE) 5.9 pct and Independent Greeks (ANEL) 3.2 pct. In the same opinion poll, Prime Minister Antonis Samaras is most suitable for premier with 44 pct while SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras gets 35.6 pct. Most suitable to deal with the country's problems is a coalition government headed by ND (38.1 pct) while a coalition government headed by SYRIZA gets 36.9 pct. According to the opinion poll, 58.3 pct of those who answered the questionnaire believe that early elections will have a negative impact on the country's economy as opposed to 36.6 pct who do not share this view. Also, 55.9 pct believe that the new president of the republic should be elected by the present parliament as opposed to 37.2 pct. In addition, 72.2 pct believe that an agreement between the government and the troika will be reached, while 56.9 pct believe that the agreement is delayed because of the troika's demands.
