[01] PM to ask from Greek President on Tuesday to dissolve the parliament
and call general elections
ANA/MPA---The people will not allow its sacrifices to be wasted, Prime
Minister Antonis Samaras said on Monday after the parliament's failure
to elect a President of the Republic.
Samaras on Tuesday will meet with the Greek President Karolos Papoulias
to ask him to dissolve the Parliament and call general elections for
January 25.
[02] Athens Stock Exchange: Nosedive
ANA/MPA---Equity prices were falling on Monday on the Athens Stock
Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index down 10.90 percent,
standing at 760.24 points at 12:45 am after the failure of the current
Parliament to elect a President of the Republic.
Turnover was at 50.215 million euros.
The FTSE/ASE Large Cap index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was
down 12.17 percent, and the FTSE/ASE Mid Cap index was down 9.69 percent.
Of the stocks traded, 15 were up, 89 were down and 8 were unchanged.
