[01] Main opposition leader on Tsipras-Merkel meetingANA/MPA---Main opposition New Democracy leader Antonis Samaras on Monday stressed the need for Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to handle the meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel "in a practical and realistic way having the needs of the country and the economy as criterion," adding that "there should not be any words for domestic consumption."Referring to Tsipras' letter to Merkel, Samaras said that informing foreign leaders that the country's situation is desperate is a "theatre" of the proud negotiation as at the same time he was assuring the Greek people that there is no problem with liquidity, loans and pensions. "Being proud is to take the country out of the crisis, having no need for further loans and not whining to the foreign leaders. I hope and I urge Mr Tsipras to deal practically and realistically with today's meeting with the Chancellor and have the needs of the country and the economy as a criterion instead of the known words for domestic consumption," Samaras noted. [02] Accussations against me are a contract of vested interests, Alternate Admin. Reform Min saysANA/MPA---Alternate Administrative Reform Minister George Katrougalos on Monday in statements to ANT1 TV described a report in ‘Vima' newspaper, according to which until January 27 he received a 12 percent commission for the re-hiring of suspended public employees, as absolutely false."They have used fake evidence for the accusations," he said and added that in case such a contract is found he would resign. He noted that if they did not apologize to him until Monday, he would file a lawsuit against ‘Vima" and German paper ‘Bild', which reproduced the report. He also said that he would ask for the lifting of the lawyer-client privilege and that he would publish all the data from the contracts he has signed. He said the whole issue was staged and that it has already collapsed, noting that the accusations are a contract of vested interests with an aim is to undermine the government. He also stressed he did not expect to get a single euro when those employees return to their posts. In the meantime, government spokesman Gavriil Sakellaridis in statements to Mega TV said that Katrougalos has already given clear explanations. "We are seeing a desperate…effort particularly on the part of the main opposition to invest in supposedly issues of ethics of the government. The moral advantage that the government has cannot be affected by either New Democracy or PASOK ... We are not like them, we will not become like them, we leave the monopoly of corruption and vested interests to them," he said.
