[01] Social dialogue on collective bargaining
The government's first trilateral meeting with social partners'
representatives (trade unions and employee associations) on labour
issues legislation is expected to take place on Wednesday at the Labour
ministry.
According to a report in Sunday's Avgi, the draft law that the Labour
ministry is currently working on does not include the timetable for
the gradual restitution of the minimum wage, which will be settled with
another bill over the next period of time.
In a letter to the representatives of trade unions and employee
associations last week, Labour Minister Panos Skourletis said that the
minimum wage would be increased by 10.91 percent to 650 euros gross a
month and the daily wage for labourers to 29.05 euros as of October 1
this year while age-based salary distinctions would be scrapped.
The ministry's target is the gradual restitution by July 2016 of the
general minimum wage to the levels of February 2012, namely 751 euros
gross.
Moreover, the new legislation enhances the role of arbitration in
labour issues and restitutes the jurisdiction of the Organisation of
Mediation and Arbitration (OMED) while several changes are expected to
be implemented in collective bargaining.
