  • [01] Parliament convenes to decide on Tsipras' proposal

The parliament plenum will convene on Saturday at 12.00 to discuss and vote or not Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' proposal for referendum.

According to the Cabinet's decision following Tsipras' proposal the Greek people are called to decide if they want the lenders' agreement proposal tabled at 25 June's Eurogroup to be accepted or not.

The referendum will be held on Sunday 5 July.

[02] State Minister: Greeks will say no to the institutions' proposal

ANA/MPA---The Greek people will say 'no' to the institutions' proposal, said early Saturday State Minister Nikos Pappas.

"There is an institutions' proposal on the table which is not compatible with the people's mandate and with Greece's course towards growth. In a few days Greeks will decide if this proposal can be accepted or not."

He also said that "there are some extreme circles in Germany that in cooperation with the IMF want to identify the implementation of the memorandums with the existence of the common currency. This is unacceptable, as a message to the Greek and to the European people" and called all these extreme circles not to play with the stability of the common currency.

"The people will vote no and you will see it," said Pappas speaking to the press after the end of the cabinet meeting and added "Whoever, at this moment, plays with extreme scenarios undertakes a historic responsibility. We call on everyone to set their political arguments on the table, to stop playing with the people's bank deposits" and reiterated "whoever, identifies the common currency with the continuous poverty and the memorandums offers bad service to Europe. Europe has the institutional power and the political force to find solutions that overcome the crisis without the IMF."

[03] Potami leader on referendum proposal

ANA/MPA---Potami party called the people to fight in order Greece to remain standing within Europe. Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis accused Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras saying that they failed and decided to lead the lobby of the drachma "Alexis Tsipras and Panos Kammenos decided to get the country out of the eurozone and to throw the country off the cliff. They were proved incapable to make a decent agreement for growth and social justice. We will struggle all together for a powerful Greece in Europe's heart" noted Theodorakis in a statement over the decision for a referendum .
