ANA-MPA - The government will have a comprehensive solution to offer for non-performing ("red") loans by January 1, 2016, Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos said late on Wednesday, during the debate in Parliament on the second package of prior actions demanded by Greece's creditors, adding that it will include protection of a family's main residence.

Tsakalotos said among other things that the negotiation team from Greece was united and all difficulties were faced as a team, regardless of who chaired it, but Greece had to deal with people who insisted on a particular viewpoint. Addressing the main opposition New Democracy deputies and those of PASOK, he said that all those who were talking about a Grexit before national elections "should look at their own responsibility for the bank run."

Asked whether the directive for a fund to help the banking system in Greece would be really useful, he said yes, and referred to specific parts that related to the guarantee of deposits and the supervision of the mechanism returning the economy to a healthy path. "Depositors may feel greater security," he said, adding that the draft bill's provisions were a good start.
