[01] Coast Guard rescues young woman with disabilities from sinking boatANA-MPA/ Coast Guard rescued on Friday a 18-year old girl with paraplegia along with 42 other refugees, mostly Syrian, in the sea region off the coasts of Mytilene, Lesvos island.The rescuers also managed to collect the girl's sinking wheelchair, a necessary tool in order for the girl to continue her trip. Lesvos authorities were informed early in the morning that a dinghy with migrants and refugees was adrift. A patrol vessel rushed to the spot and found the boat with 42 people, among them 11 women and three children. The officers immediately started collecting the people that have jumped to the water while some crew members collected the disabled girl from the sinking boat. "Her eyes were turned towards the end of the boat, we saw a wheelchair ready to sink. We caught it and took it on the boat," said a member of the coast guard vessel.
