[01] Piraeus Port reports profits up 40.6% in Jan-Sept
The Piraeus Port Authority S.A. on Wednesday reported a 47.3-pct increase
in its pre-tax profits during the January-September 2015 period, to
15.3 million euros, up from 10.4 million in the same period last year,
while after-tax earnings jumped 40.6 pct to 12.1 million euros.
Nine-month revenue eased 5.7 pct to 75.4 million euros, while operating
expenses fell 4.9 pct to 69.8 million euros, reflecting a 4.4-pct decline
in payroll costs and spending on maintenance-repair, energy consumption,
etc.
"Despite adverse economic conditions which affects commerce and
transport, the Organization is cutting its expenses, raising its
profitability and improving its results," G. Kouvaris, the chairman
and chief executive of the port said in an announcement.
