  • [01] Farmers throughout the country continue their mobilisations

    Farmers of northern Greece remain at their blocks noting that the "struggle is at its most crucial point".

    Greek-Bulgarian borders at Promachonas will be open from 11:00-15:00 to all vehicles and at Exochi customs said that the customs will be open for buses and cars from 10:-15:00 and 17:00-22:00 while the customs are closed throughout the day to lorries and trucks.

    Egnatia motorway at Kedryllia and Niselio are closed while Malgara will close at 12:00 on Monday for 24 hours.

    Evzoni and Doirani customs (Greek-Fyrom borders) will be closed from 12:00-15:00 and 20:00-23:00 and from 18:00-22:00 respectively.

    In western Macedonia, the Greek-Albanian border at Krystallopigi and the Greek-Fyrom border at Niki will be closed throughout the day.

    Moreover, in Peloponnese farmers continue to keep closed the Athens-Corinth motorway at Corinth Canal while farmers also blocked the old national road from 18:00 on Sunday until 18:00 on Monday.

    [02] PM Tsipras chairs meeting on government work

    A meeting between Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and ministers on the government work is underway.

    The upcoming EU summit on the refugee crisis and the crucial meetings of the prime minister dominate the meeting.

    [03] ND leader presents Greek positions on refugees problem to EU ambassadors

    New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis' meeting with the 28 envoys of EU state members was completed on Monday.

    The working breakfast was part of Mitsotakis' initiative for the promotion of the Greek position on the refugees issue abroad.

    The main opposition leader, who has already met with Alternate Migration Minister Giannis Mouzalas and has visited the refugees camps in Mytilene, will have a series of meetings with the European leaders and officials within the week on the sidelines of the European People's Party meeting in Brussels.

    [04] Greek budget primary surplus jumped to 1.193 bln euros in Jan

    The Greek budget recorded surplus of 1.077 billion euros on an amended cash basis in January, up from a surplus of 367 million euros in January 2015 and a budget target for a surplus of 197 million, the Finance ministry said on Monday.

    The budget also recorded a primary surplus of 1.193 billion euros in January, from a primary surplus of 443 million last year and a budget target for a primary surplus of 307 million euros.

    State budget net revenue totaled 4.219 billion euros in January, up 10.4 pct from targets, while regular budget net revenue amounted to 3.654 billion euros, down 0.2 pct from budget targets.

    Tax returns totaled 296 million euros in January, down 49 million euros from budget targets, while Public Investment Programme revenue amounted to 565 million euros, up 405 million from targets.
