  • [01] Gov't body says 43,407 refugees were in Greece on Wednesday

    The government body responsible for coordinating the management of the refugee crisis calculated there are 43,407 refugees in Greece on Wednesday, of which 8,648 are on the islands, 11,936 in the Attica region (Athens and Piraeus), and 10,500 in Idomeni's makeshift camp.

    New arrivals on the islands were limited to 111, the body said. Refugees were also dispursed in different cities around the country, with 398 found in Larisa, 200 in Trikala, 300 in Thermopyles, and 350 in Ritsona.

    The body also revealed that containers will be sent to Idomeni to be used by the health authorities operating there, as well as the interpreting and information services and that the government is in the process of creating 8,500 new accommodation places for refugees in the next few days.
