  • [01] PM Tsipras: Hard times are over; we are entering a new era

    ANA/MPA---Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras send a message of optimism for Greece and its people during his visit on Sunday to frigate Adrias.

    "Today, we are at the end of a very difficult period. The bad are behind us and better days are coming. We celebrate this Easter that marks the passage to a new era with hope and optimism and determination. We are leaving the bad times behind and we are looking to the future with optimism and vision for the country and the people. Always by defending the values and the solidarity to the people, the democracy and the social justice" said the prime minister.

    [02] Mycenaean era tombs in Kiveri

    ANA/MPA--Tombs dated back to the Mycenaean period 1600-1100 BC found at the town of Kiveri in the region of Argolis. According to the Greek mythology, Danaos, the founder of the city of Argos, one of the foremost Mycenaean cities of Peloponnese, had anchored at the small port town of Kiveri. The ancient temple of Genessios Poseidon was in the area and a series of Mycenaean tombs and remains of an ancient settlement were discovered at the site of Aghios Dimitrios.

    Following an initiative of the local authorities, (the village's president in cooperation with Argos mayor) the tombs will be restored and promoted with aim to become accessible to the public.

    [03] Refugees arrivals at low levels in the last four days

    Refugees and migrants' flow to the Greek islands remained at low levels in the last days. No arrivals were recorded on Lesvos in the last four days while 52 arrivals were recorded on Chios and 12 on Samos on Easter Sunday.

    In the last ten days, 179 persons arrived on Lesvos, 227 on Chios and 135 on the island of Samos.

    [04] 54,142 identified migrants and refugees in Greece on Monday

    54,142 identified refugees and migrants were on the Greek territory on Monday including 64 persons that arrived on the Greek islands in the last 24 hours.

    According to the Refugee Crisis Management Coordination Body's figures, 29,277 of the refugees are in northern Greece, 10,172 of them are in Idomeni camp, 14,449 are hosted in the region of Attica (2,135 hosted at Piraeus port), 8,150 on the Greek islands and 2,266 are hosted in different areas in central and southern Greece.
