  • [01] BoG report on Attica Bank loans will be given to all political parties, says com't president Famellos

    The directors of Attica Bank will appear before the parliamentary examining committee regarding the loans of the political parties and the media while Bank of Greece's (BoG) report referring to Attica Bank's loans will be given to all political parties, SYRIZA's parliamentary spokesman Sokratis Famellos said on Wednesday to "Praktoreio 104.9 FM".

    "We don't want any suspicions; everything should come into the light," he underlined.

    Famellos said that the committee examines whatever infringement recorded in relation with the banks' loans to the media and political parties. He also said that 1.3 bln euros loans to media and 420 mln euro loans to political parties including 402 mln euros non-performing loans to main opposition New Democracy (ND) and PASOK are being examined.

    He also said that former BoG governor Giorgos Provopoulos and current head of BoG Yiannis Stournaras will appear before the committee until October 11.

    [02] Debate on investment at Elliniko started in parliament

    The debate on the draft law for the investment in the area of former airport of Elliniko started on Wednesday at the parliament plenum.

    All parties, with the exemption of the Communist Party (KKE) and Golden Dawn, are positive on the investment.

    The voting will be held late Wednesday.

    [03] Ships to remain docked due to 48h strike called by Seamen's Federation

    The Greek Seamen's Federation (PNO) has declared a 48h strike in all ship categories starting from 06:00 on Thursday, September 22 until 06:00 on Saturday 24 September.

    The Seamen's Federation reacts to the reduction of the seamen's' supplementary pensions.

    The shipping companies have changed their schedule. Citizens who are going to travel should get in contact with the travel agencies for information.

    [04] Ryanair adds four more destinations from Thessaloniki in 2017 summer programme

    The representatives of Ryanair underlined the exceptional prospects of Thessaloniki's Macedonia airport that is constantly developing as well as the difficulties the airlines will face as of mid-February 2017 and for a period of three months due to technical works.

    The commercial director of Ryanair David O'Brien announced that four new flights will be added in Thessaloniki's schedule in summer 2017 along with the recently added flight to Berlin.

    The international airport of Thessaloniki is expected to post a 14 percent increase in the number of flights while Athens only 1 percent due to the high airport cost.

    The new flights will link the city of Thessaloniki with Hamburg, Copenhagen, Dormund and Gothenburg. 1.9 million passengers travel to Thessaloniki by Ryanair every year.
